Tourism is not a novel industry to Ella. Although the economy of the community in Ella context is based on the tourism industry, the majority of who are engaged in this industry are restaurants, hotels, or resorts. Communities associated with these are at least residing in the upper-middle class or above. The communities residing in the bottom of the hierarchy do not have many opportunities to gain an advantage from the already existing tourism industry. Most of them are mainly focused on cultivations or other similar occupations. The proposed project is an opportunity to uplift the communities that are focused on cultivation, from their poverty using the already established tourism industry in Ella.
